(AFX UK Focus) 2008-03-26 17:56 GMT: Cimpor FY net rises 4 pct to 304.1 mln eur on new units, Brazil sales UPDATE

(Updates with EBITDA, margin, country breakdown, debt, total capacity)

LISBON (Thomson Financial) - Cimpor Cimentos de Portugal SGPS said net profit increased 4 pct to 304.1 mln eur in the full year to December from 291.9 mln a year earlier, as a boost in sales in Brazil and the contribution of new units in China and Turkey offset the negative effect of the appreciation of the euro.

Net profit beat analysts' estimates for 277-296 mln eur.

In a statement, Cimpor said sales increased 20 pct to 1.966 bln eur, above estimates for 1.924-1.954 bln.

Sales were boosted by a 20 pct growth in revenue at Cimpor's operations in Brazil, the company's third-largest contributor to group revenue, as well as the consolidation of the acquisition of Turkey's YLOAC at the end of 2006.

Bankruptcy filings expected to rise in southern New Mexico (4:55 p.m.)

LAS CRUCES — Bankruptcy filings soon will be on the rise in southern New Mexico.

That is the opinion of some professionals in the debt management and accounting fields.

"Left and right we have people with debt management issues," said Dolores Rosell of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the YWCA in Las Cruces. She said the number of people worried about or already planning to file for bankruptcy "has increased 100 percent."

Through the end of February, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Mexico in Albuquerque reported the number of bankruptcy filings in Doña Ana County had not increased so far in 2008 from a year ago, but statewide, numbers were ahead of 2007.

Through the end of February, 48 bankruptcies had been filed in Doña Ana County, while 778 were filed statewide.

(Adds revenue by division, net financial loss, net debt, dividend proposal)

LISBON (Thomson Financial) - Mota Engil SGPS said net profit surged 202.2 pct to 97.53 mln eur in the full-year to Dec 31 from a year earlier, boosted by a 67.4 mln eur capital gain from the IPO of Martifer SGPS, but came in at the bottom end of estimates of 95.6-108 mln eur.

Mota Engil said in a statement net profit was also boosted by the consolidation of the Tertir Group and the Aenor Group acquisitions as well as the first-time consolidation of the group's transport concessions unit.

"Thus, despite a reduction in the activity of engineering and construction, the group recorded a meaningful growth rate," it said.

Full-year EBITDA rose to 248.4 mln eur from 141.59 mln a year earlier, also coming in at the bottom end of analysts estimates of 248-250 mln eur.

Health Alliance pays off its long-term debt; Another balanced budget presented

As the fiscal year wraps up, the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance announced it has eliminated its long-term debt and improved working capital.

The balanced budget was presented at this week's tri-board meeting of representatives of St. Joseph's, Public General and Sydenham District hospitals.

Paul Heinrich, vice-president and chief financial officer for CKHA, said in an interview that the hospital is "well positioned" going into the next fiscal year.

"CKHA has over the past several years budgeted towards a surplus," he said. "They had a goal of retiring the debt by March '08."

"This year celebrates the 10th year of the Alliance and this is kind of a historic milestone that this is the year," said Kim Bossy, director of communications and community relations.
